What you need to know about the Dallas-Fort Worth housing market
Texas real estate continues to be in the spotlight in 2017 with a number of developments that could impact the market in the coming months.
A new report from the Dallas County real estate board finds the Dallas metro area has added nearly 200,000 jobs in the past 12 months.
That’s up about 8,000 from a year ago, and the Dallas Area Association of Realtors predicts that the job growth will continue through 2021.
A separate report from RE/MAX shows Dallas has added 4,000 more jobs since the end of January, and RE/Max expects that trend to continue through 2024.RE/MAX said its Dallas metro region jobs index rose 0.4% to 4.9% in January, the fastest pace in the country.
But it said that index is only one measure of the number of people working in the Dallas area, and many of the other jobs figures have been rising.
“With the growing number of companies in the area and the continued growth of the local economy, RE/MAK believes the Dallas Metro area is in a position to continue adding jobs through the remainder of the year and beyond,” RE/MIN said.
The Dallas Area Council is a nonprofit that represents Dallas County’s residents and businesses.
The council has said the Dallas region has the highest job growth rate in the nation.
The Texas Department of Economic Analysis projects Dallas County will add 2.5 million jobs by 2021, up from 2.2 million jobs in 2020.
But the state’s economy remains stuck in a recession, with unemployment rising to 5.1% and the economy as a whole still below pre-recession levels.
