The top-earning real estate licensee in Texas is a woman who lives in Houston and has earned $1.4 million over the past five years, according to an analysis of data from the Texas Department of Real Estate and Real Estate Licensing.
The license holder is in her 60s.
In a letter to lawmakers, Real Estate License Commissioner Jessica Jones said she is “incredibly proud” of the license holder.
She said that in recent years, her license holder and her two daughters have earned more than $400,000, and she and her husband have a home that has been worth more than half a million dollars.
Jones said the license is a “must-have” for those looking to buy homes and get involved in real estate.
She also said that a lot of people don’t know how to use a real estate transaction because they don’t have an understanding of what real estate licenses are.
The state is in the midst of a real-estate downturn.
Real estate sales were down 17.8% in the first half of the year, according the Texas Association of Realtors.
